I must confess I fell asleep after Stan lost the first set, having rather written it off. Because it's Stan, and it's Berdych, and while I know Stan can play well (he's not the 9th seed for nothing), I also know that in many ways any slam which he doesn't lose in the first round of is a success, and before this tournie he hadn't won consecutive matches since before Wimbledon so getting to the fourth round here is good and fine and brilliant. But to wake up and find that he won?! There was much squeeage, negl.
 photo image.jpg

And then I read about the crowd shouting "We want Federer" at him, and had to talk myself out of flying to New York to sort these morons out. Eventually calmed myself down by staring at this pic

Now to face this guy. (Don't worry Muzz, I won't hold it against you if you win...)
 photo _69635498_murray.jpg

Bonus perk: Yves has gone into full on protective mother-hen mode over his boys on Twitter. I <3 him.
 photo yvestweet.jpg
And it's a good day for the Swisses in general, Marco and Steph have both done winning in St Remy against the first and second seeds.

(Re: this post's title - full respect to Tommy for beating Federer, and his comeback in general is amazing, and you all know I love anyone with a one-handed backhand, but as a Kohli-fan there is always part of me who thinks "cheaty lie-y tosspot!" everytime I see him, and additionally I'm beginning to find Fed's losses less unexpected and more a little sad (it's the end of an era![/Rachel Greene]). So, you know...I like this upset better.)

"Wassup, my Manislas! So I booked our weekend away together. How does 25th-28th March strike you?"
"Don't we have to do tennis that weekend?"
"What, are you sure?"
"Yeah, Miami! I'm so excited, I've got a lovely draw, getting to the quarters again looks achievable."
"But the hotel's non-refundable..."
"Offer it to Verdasco and Lopez?"
"I was just looking forward to it, you know? After having to watch you playing doubles all last week, with him...Why don't you ever want to play doubles with me? We could play doubles in Madrid, or Rome."
"...So anyway, Andy, about this weekend."
"Yes?"
"Well, if we both lose our first match, we'll be done by Friday."
"And we'll have the whole week after free too! Let's swim with dolphins, that always looks so romantic."
"Like Ljubicic and Starace?"
"Exactly."
"And you don't think there'll be any knock to your reputation by losing to challenger-level American qualifiers in back-to-back Masters tournaments?"
"Nah. Don't worry about it."

...And so, with Kohli down a break in the third, it is now Mardy Fish upon whom I am relying to salvage my Fantasy Tennis team in this tournie. Ungood times.

Couple of other pics from the match yesterday, because...I can't help it.

Photobucket
It's like, every time I blink, Per gets taller.

Photobucket
Tbh, I find Silvestre almost constantly adorable. When he plays like he did yesterday, that's just a bonus.

Photobucket
That bit was nice, excited running and cuddling is always good.

Photobucket
Plus it reminded me of this, so that's even better.

Really, this is the ship I've ever been closest to tinhatting. ...It was only meant to be for the lols, how did it all go so right wrong.

Photobucket
You! You're not allowed to be injured again, ever.

Other cuteness happened yesterday/today/Friday/Monday (Australian time is too complicated) too. Mostly this:

But also this:

Win that slam, Stan.

On the left is Paes, he's a hundred years old. On the right, Melzer, he's a bit younger and beat Nadal this week. Also this week, they played doubles together (for, I believe, the first time?). And they won the whole tournament. Petzschner, you in danger girl.

Tomorrow morning, at early o'clock, I depart for fair old London town to stay with my dearest Grandmother. Well, second-dearest. And I'm not overly fond of the other one either. Anyway. As the internet availability there may be somewhat limited, I apologise in advance for any PMs/comments that probably I won't reply to until Wednesday/Thursday-ish.

Also, if anyone in/near London wants to meet up and hasn't already got to me on Twitter, then I am free for most of Wednesday (12:00-19:00, hopefully, maybe not starting as early as that) and would love to see you. If we could meet somewhere near a District Line station that would be grand as I'm slightly useless with the Tube (...though, anywhere's fine really), so leave a comment here or if it's already tomorrow (i.e., Monday) when you read this then feel free to text/phone me, 07757 239119.

To make this post more exciting, young!Baumann -

and young Ballack/Frings cuteness -

I am so nervous over Stan/Murray rn, there aren't even words. On the one hand, I hope Stan isn't completely awful. On the other hand, if it's close it's going to be painful again, and idk idk. Matt Cronin's picked Murray to win though, so that can only speak in Stan's favour ;)

(I may have posted a couple of these before, but I can't find them under my "icons" tag, so here they are again.)

[24] Football. (Mostly Frings, but featuring Micoud, Mertesacker, Almeida, Borowski, Diego, Klose, Oehrl, Baumann, Ballack, Kuranyi and Loew as part of parings)
[52] Tennis. (Mostly Wawrinka and Lopez, but also Ferrer, the Bryan Brothers, Verdasco, Nadal, Federer, Cilic. And Karlovic, Olivier Rochus, Murray, Allegro, Bohli and Luthi in pairings.)
[9] Others. (Die toten Hosen, Do Começo ao Fim, John Simm, Green Wing.)

Now, see here. )

Other things:

10 foreign football sex scandals to try and make John Terry not look as bad
Aside from Garrincha and the goat, I'm most baffled by this bit about Beckenbauer: The 18-year-old Franz was banned from the West German youth side and only reinstated when he agreed to share a room with coach Dettmar Cramer. ...Did that really help?

This is the catchiest song ever. (And the fanvid it's put to is fairly awesome too I think, though I don't know anything about "Princess Tutu"...or indeed anime generally.)

"I can cry like Roger. It's just a shame I can't play like him." - Andy Murray

You just know Roger was thinking "Shut up, I cry better than anyone.".

Though, I like that Roger and the British Press have got together to be a bastard to Murray. Because everyone was lovely to Henman, we spent years going "Oh, never mind Tim, I'm sure you'll win a slam next year." and Roger was all "Hey Timmy, wanna go for dinner?" and stuff, and what came of that? Nothing.

Everyone's just being cruel to be kind.

Turns out England captain John Terry paid his teammate's girlfriend to have an abortion after their affair. I'm not really surprised, he's always been a dick, but now everyone's all "should he still be captain?". You know, if no one minded the constant affairs, the thieving family, the drug dealing, the bribery, the gambling, the assaulting doormen with bottles and the 9/11 thing, then I'm not sure this is that much.... Actually, why on earth is he still captain at all? But apparently he might be kicked off the team altogether now, which is unfortunate as despite his personal indiscretions he is very good at kicking things and that is what the point of football sort of is. Could these revelations not have waited until after the World Cup, News of the World? *sigh*

Also, am I imagining things, or do these guys look similar? A bit?
Photobucket
Though, obviously Ross doesn't keep his hair quite as ordered as Feli does.
Photobucket
Making the moves on/with Muzz there :)

Is it wrong for me to ship this?
Photobucket
I mean I know she's not quite legal yet, but he's hardly an old man. (I don't know why I feel guilty about this when I unashamedly ship him and his brother, which is probably less legal, and arguably grosser.) And they're just so cute.

Oh, guess who else won their doubles! (I can't find a picture from today, but this'll do, even though it's about 7 years old.)
Photobucket
(I thought when I looked at that "oooh, Stan shaved" and then I realised back then he probably didn't need to.)

Thiemo also won, which makes me all kinds of happy.
Photobucket
(That picture isn't from today either, but you can't really go wrong with Dutch cuddling.)

Rochus Senior lost though, but we can have a picture of him cuddling someone anyway.
Photobucket

And look what Bremen won yesterday:
Photobucket
Photobucket
Pretty, no?

Poor Baumi having to sit all on his own though.

(And does anyone want me to send them one of the "Holiday promotion $10 off a paid account things"? Because I have spares.)

Endlich!

Oh God, it makes me tingly. After that cliffhanger I thought it would just be raising my hopes and they wouldn't actually kiss, but then they did. A bit. And then Deniz was lovely, and Roman was adorable, and they did proper kissing, and it's so gorgeous, and this is like the third ep in a row they get to be cliff hanger, and like, they have to shag now, right? Cos that'll be hotter than Marian/Jenny and will totally make up for all the Stella/Lars shower sex scenes we had to sit through. Maybe it was only one actually...With her reliving it whilst skating or something. Whatever. I wish Stella would just diaf, tbh. Deniz and Roman <3 <3 <3 <3

The preview for Monday is great too. I know I say this all the time, but I really do love Axel. Like burning.

And the US Open Draw is out
OMG, (possible) Wawrinka vs Murray in the 4th round again? What are they trying to do to me? I suppose maybe Lopez will beat Karlovic in the 2nd round, and then Murray in the 3rd and then we get Lopez/Wawrinka fun in the 4th so they can make it up to me for ballsing up the Swiss Open. ...Well, a girl can dream.
Nando's got a lovely draw though, until Roddick. And on the brightside, more of this is probably not an entirely bad thing.

I am so, so, so excited!

I am so, so, so excited!
I was going to do this post during Wimbly, but then got distracted by being sad over Stan losing to Murray. So I'm going to do it now instead, mainly to distract myself from Stan being a bit pitiful in the German Open. Hopefully it'll bring him good luck in the Swiss Open (I want a Wawrinka v. Lopez final, then I won't really care who wins as long as there's some sexy post-match hugging.)

First up, Gilles Simon
Photobucket

I've realised I've been forgetting to do cuts quite a lot lately, apologies. I hope it hasn't been bothering anybody too much. It it ever is, prod me and I'll fix it. )

Also, according to twitterholic.com I have the 22nd most Twitter followers in Exeter, woohoo!!
We can but assume there are about 23 Twitter users in Exeter.

(My friend's boyfriend has swine flu, btw, although as apparently hundreds of thousands people have it here now, that's probably not really news. Compared to other European countries it seems Britain has handled this all quite badly, tbh. Maybe, Gordon Brown has just given up entirely, he's sat in No. 10 going "Quarantine? Vaccines? Nah, fuck 'em. TRAITORS!", growling to himself inside a germ proof bubble, and hoping David Cameron is friends with lots of Mexicans and/or GPs.)
