Roger Federer, Greatest Of All Time Tennis Player, generally awesome guy. Today I typo'd at him, and he replieeeeeed.
 photo rogertweet.jpg
And he said Stannnnn. And he called Stan a mannnnn.
Or "the man", even, we all know Stan's a man.
And he mentioned Yves, and then Yves retweeted it, and that made me almost as excited as being replied to in the first place.
(And he said Tommy, who I also like a bit.)

Basically, today is the best day ever.
(Unless someone I like dies later on, that would take the shine off the day, but still it would probably be one of my favourite days despite the bereavement. I hope I didn't just jinx anyone though. None of you die, that's an order. You'll be responsible for ruining my special day.)

Heeeeee!

(He's still doing a Q&A as of now (13:40 GMT...or are we still BST? 13:40 in Britain), if you want to ask him stuff too, btw.) He's stopped now.

ETA: Stan RT'd it too now, hooray! So perfect. Or should I say peRFect?
No, but seriously, as of now, over 0.6% of Roger Federer's tweets are to me.

Just...Wow.

Also, I know this is three days late, but really all of The Daily Show should be like this

I must confess I fell asleep after Stan lost the first set, having rather written it off. Because it's Stan, and it's Berdych, and while I know Stan can play well (he's not the 9th seed for nothing), I also know that in many ways any slam which he doesn't lose in the first round of is a success, and before this tournie he hadn't won consecutive matches since before Wimbledon so getting to the fourth round here is good and fine and brilliant. But to wake up and find that he won?! There was much squeeage, negl.
 photo image.jpg

And then I read about the crowd shouting "We want Federer" at him, and had to talk myself out of flying to New York to sort these morons out. Eventually calmed myself down by staring at this pic

Now to face this guy. (Don't worry Muzz, I won't hold it against you if you win...)
 photo _69635498_murray.jpg

Bonus perk: Yves has gone into full on protective mother-hen mode over his boys on Twitter. I <3 him.
 photo yvestweet.jpg
And it's a good day for the Swisses in general, Marco and Steph have both done winning in St Remy against the first and second seeds.

(Re: this post's title - full respect to Tommy for beating Federer, and his comeback in general is amazing, and you all know I love anyone with a one-handed backhand, but as a Kohli-fan there is always part of me who thinks "cheaty lie-y tosspot!" everytime I see him, and additionally I'm beginning to find Fed's losses less unexpected and more a little sad (it's the end of an era![/Rachel Greene]). So, you know...I like this upset better.)
Hey Ferru, I'm sure you're very busy right now, being awesome and preparing yourself for the final and everything. I couldn't possibly ask you to take time out of your day to affirm my OTP, that would be too much.

No, really.

Well, okay, I mean if you insist...

1:30 -
"¿Con qué jugadores tienes mejor relación?"
"Pues me llevo muy bien con Albert Montañes, con Rafael Nadal, cuando estaba Juan Carlos Ferrero."

Listing him last so people wouldn't suspect~, I love it when you boys are subtle.

Ty David, good luck tomorrow.
First title since January 2011 :DD
 photo 168104449.jpg
Well done, Stan. But try to win a tournie with a less fugly trophy next time, there's a good boy.

(...Soz, Ferru. But you got to win the final in Buenos Aires, so fair's only fair.)

With my dissertation finished, and only one essay and one exam left of my university career, I should possibly be thinking about what I should do afterwards....

But it's much more fun to look at all the cuteness from the tennis world that I've missed while I've been doing focussing.

Kohli and Feli went on a date to play with the dolphins! (With some other dudes.)
 photo miami13.png
Spanish-German OTP. I love that Kohli is blatantly in a wetsuit a size smaller than all the others. And also this video, where Jo, Feli and Seppi all say vaguely intelligent things about the dolphins ("they're so agile", "they're so clever", etc) and Kohli's just amazed at how big they are. "They always seem so small in the TV." I love Kohli, he's such a moron. (Cf. his inability to say the phrase "seven-six in the third" at 0:15 an again at 1:25...I'm so cruel, bullying the English as additional language speakers...but I just find it so adorable, and Kohli's an idiot in German too, so I don't feel too bad about him.)

 photo bmw13-1.png
He and Tommy also had fun playing tennis with some men who usually do driving not tennising. Glock and Spengler? I don't follow F1, I only know Hamilton, Vettel, Alonso, and that one who is in the Head and Shoulders advert whose name escapes me. This Timo Glock chappie is effing adorbs though, so I may have to start taking an interest. Plus Kohli and Bruno seem to have already sorted out where their second double date will be, which is sweet.

Announcement: While I am happy for Sr Robredo to be back and playing and winning after all the injury troubles he's had, he is quickly exhausting my good will. In the last month he's taken out Robin, Tobi and Stan (...and Stan's wife). Well, Tommy, consider this your warning, no more special treatment. You have clearly had plenty of recovery time, as indicated by that title that what you won, so you are no longer excluded from any irrational hatred from my direction should you beat any more of my boys.
 photo 2fd8dc64-07bf-4b1c-b6c1-ef0069cef2f2.jpg
Yes, I thought that would make you think.

Stan did beat Muzz in Monte Carlo though, which was nice except Andy was just playing really badly so it wasn't a totally satisfying win. (Stan disagrees with my assessment, there: "I was playing really good, he wasn't playing that good. And that's perfect for me." *cheeky smile*.) He also got to go on an awkward little sailing trip in Portugal with Vesnina.

With Stan (and Ferru) in the final in Oeiras and Kohli in the final (and Dima and Jarkko and Marcos all in the doubles final) in Munich, all is looking good for this week.

( 7 Apr 2013 21:49)
Marius Copil (think: Andy Roddick but much prettier) and Adrian Ungur (think: Jürgen Klinsmann but more grumpy) are very sweet, but nevertheless I'm v happy that the good-looking Dutch boys (and Sijsling*) pissed all over them. To the World Group (play-offs), lads!

* I don't mean to be mean to Igor, but it's hard not to be. Really, this is his happy face. Even Stepanek manages nicer smiles.

Special hoorays for Thiemo, who won a match and is back in the Top 100 this week too.

Probably because of all the Omega 3 he's getting now or something, idk.

Further good news as Team GB overcame their collective wont for incompetence, and beat Russia.

First win from 2-0 down since the 16th century or something. I did feel a little bit bad for Dima (especially as everyone kept referring to the "Russian C/D/Z Team" and he didn't even have Andreev around to kiss him in these times of hardship) but he already won the Davis Cup, so someone else should get a turn.

Our team are just so adorable. It's getting to the stage where I'm beginning to question whether people who don't love James Ward are actually human.

D'awww.

Sweden did not fare quite as well, though I was very impressed that they only lost 3:2 to Ukraine, given Ukraine has Dolgopolov and Stakhovsky, and the singles ranks of the Swedish Team are 642, 675, Unranked, Unranked. Little Isak even managed to take Dolgo to a tiebreak, and only got bagelled once in two matches - this from someone who hasn't even won a Futures match since last October. What a clever boy.

...Not all the pics I've used are actually from these weekend's matches, just in case you hadn't realised. Mainly because photographers seem to focus on people like Querrey and Simon, who I don't give a toss about.

Other stuff:
- Poor Uruguay :(
- Yay, Finland :)
- Wow at Cyprus winning even though Baghdatis only played one singles rubber.
- And some World Group ties happened too, but I don't really care about any of the teams who got through to the QFs, so meh. I mean, maybe it's because I'm British, or maybe it's because I'm xenophobic, but how on earth does one decide whether to want France or Argentina to win? They're both awful, who could support them. I am hoping Canada win their one though. Australia and India won their ties as well, Commonwealth represent.

Me, ten minutes before the match: I don't really mind who wins, I <3 them both, I'm just pleased they both made the final. I'm perfectly happy whatever the result :)))

Me, ten minutes into the match: STAN, I WANT YOU TO LITERALLY KILL HIM. WIN THIS SHIT GDI.

Me, ten minutes after the match: Aww, yay, Ferru :DDDD Poor Stan, but yay David, yay :DDDD

(I'm not being (consciously) disingenuous about this. My loyalties seem to change with the tide sometimes.)

What a nice tennis week it was though - Feli made a final, Colin won a title, Sania won a title, and Karin made a semi, as did Boy and Kevin. All good. (...It's so much easier to keep up with these things when there's no Challengers...)

(Sorry, Marco. You do know I love you too, right? Because you're fabulous, and I completely underestimated you because this was so much more than I was expecting, even though I should /know/ you can do this...I forgot 2007 so soon. Forgive me?)

On a lighter note, it cannot only be me who thinks dirty things when they see this picture.
Photobucket
...Too soon?

On a bitchier note, how does anyone on earth find Berdych attractive?

I mean, really now. And a hat indoors? Ick.
What could be cuter than this?

Maybe this?

Get it? "appealing"! Because he's appealing the decision to ban him from tennis forever, but also I want him in me now. As in, he appeals to me. Bow before my incredible play on words.

...I'm sorry, that was an awkward moment for all of us. It's just I'm very nervous about what the outcome of this will be. And I know 99% of people who have anything to do with tennis would be happy to see him gone, but I would be sad.

In other news:

Rawr. But please shave.
A very enjoyable match to watch. Tbh, from now on I may just refer to Naldo as "The Messiah".

Someone needs to draw in a lower half of this pic with them holding hands.

And down in the second league...
Photobucket
I'm fairly sure the phrase "milky thighs" was invented for Benny. He has other parts that are appealing too
Photobucket
That's a "second win of the season, bitches!"!tummy-shot.

Because Stan basically is The Cat.

Despite that, he lost. To Golubev.
Photobucket
I'm pleased he was able to end his 4583-match long losing streak and all, but did it have to be against Stan? (And then he completely blew it against Steps too.)

But someone else has been doing lots of awesome.
Photobucket
Kohli! Idk why Roddick seems to implode so often when he plays against Kohli...well, "so often" = twice, but I'm grateful for it. (I'm also staggered that that was really RAndy's first penalty point ever. Ever. Previous umpires have not been doing their jobs properly, tbh.)

Doesn't he look pretty when he's ball tossing.
Photobucket
*dreamy sigh*

(I'm not usually a subscriber to the idea that you can tell a player is doping by just looking at a picture of them in action, so many problems with that, but...seriously, Petko?)
